The NERV Disaster Prevention App is a smartphone service that provides earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, and emergency warnings, as well as weather-related disaster prevention information for flooding and landslides. It is designed to assist individuals living in or visiting areas where damage is anticipated, enabling them to make informed decisions and take immediate action.

Our proprietary technology ensures the fastest information distribution in Japan by receiving data directly from the Japan Meteorological Agency through a leased line.

With this app, you have access to a comprehensive range of disaster prevention information all in one place. This includes weather and typhoon forecasts, rain radar, earthquake, tsunami, and volcanic eruption alerts, emergency weather warnings, landslide information, river conditions, and heavy rain risk notifications. The interactive map allows you to zoom in on your location or explore other areas in the country to view cloud cover, typhoon forecast areas, tsunami warning zones, and earthquake scales and intensities.

1. An app that delivers the most relevant disaster information
The home screen provides timely and location-specific information. During an earthquake, the latest updates will be displayed on the home screen. If another type of warning or alert is issued while the earthquake is ongoing, the app will prioritize the information based on type, elapsed time, and urgency, ensuring that you always have the most important details at your fingertips.
2. Push notifications for critical information
We send out different types of notifications based on your device's location, the nature of the information, and its level of urgency. Non-urgent notifications are sent silently to avoid disturbance. However, for time-sensitive disasters like earthquake early warnings and tsunami alerts, a 'Critical Alert' will sound even if your device is on Silent or Do Not Disturb mode. Please note that Critical Alerts are only sent to users in the target area of the most urgent disasters. Users outside the target area will receive normal notifications. To receive Critical Alerts, ensure your location permissions are set to "Always Allow" and enable Background App Refresh. If you prefer not to receive Critical Alerts, you can disable them in the settings.
3. Barrier-free design
We have prioritized accessibility in our app design to ensure that our information is easily accessible to all users. Our color schemes are distinct to aid individuals with color blindness, and a large, clear font is used for easy readability of longer text passages.

We do not have access to your exact location, as all location information is converted into area codes (similar to zip codes) that are commonly used within each respective area.
